No visit to Tanzania would be complete without a visit to the spice island of Zanzibar.
Waiting like a diamond in the crystal coral waters. Only 20 minutes flight from Dar es Salaam, it’s easily accessible and is without a doubt one of the world’s most beautiful islands.
Zanzibar – it’s names evokes a romantic past. To the shores of this island came Summerians, Assyrians, Hindus, Egyptians, Arabians, Chinese, Malaysians and the Portuguese, all sailing in on monsoon winds.
As well as jumping in to ultimate relaxation on those blindingly white sandy beaches and taking endless dips in the bath-water warm ocean, there are a wide range of activities and excursions available while on the Zanzibar Island……
We recommend spending a bit of your time in Stone Town – explore the “House of Wonders” and the Daranjani Market.
Pass along Bazaar filled streets heading towards the Freddie Mercury House, Old Slave Market, the Spice Market and taste some traditional delicacies near the waters edge.
Stone Town itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as a previous major port during the Slave Trade Era is steeped in history. as well as stunning, traditional architecture.
If fishing is your idea of heaven, set off in the morning from one of the local villages in search of Barracuda, Yellow Fin Tuna, Grouper, and Kingfish. Take a tour of Prison Island – named so due to ancient sultans of Zanzibar using the island to detain reluctant slaves during the era of Slave Trade.
Head out by boat and swim in crystal clear waters with wild dolphins… No enclosures and no water parks in sight, this experience is 100% natural and therefore ethical. You can swim up close and if you’re lucky they’ll even dance around you and play in the water. These humpbacked and bottle-nosed dolphins are found just a few meters from the beach.
Take a cruise at sunset in a traditional Arabian Dhow, sailing along the shores of the breathtaking and fascinating coast, while the sun sinks deep into the Indian Ocean, painting the town with its stunning pastel Colors. The wonders of Zanzibar Island are endless and these are just a few of the options available to you.
We offer a range of stunning accommodation choices on the island. Ranging from sweet and intimate little boutique hotels to big and impressive exclusive resorts.
Our extended love and exploration of Zanzibar has taken us from rustic and unique little hidden gems - thatched roofs and halved coconuts at the door to wash your sandy toes on arrival, flame tree flower petals sprinkled on the bed, right up to couples only stays and beyond 5 star options offering gourmet meals, infinity pools and the most sparkling service from here to Cairo.
The people of Zanzibar are what make the island extra special, with a kindness and warmth that rivals glow of the Zanzibari sun. Welcome to the island of wild dreams and fantasy.
