Meet the team
As Luna Safari’s Managing Director, Michaela founded the company in 2018. With a deep love of Africa, which has already spanned over a decade – her aim was to create a tour company with a whole lot of heart.
Originally from the UK but now living in Tanzania permanently, Michaela puts together dream itineraries and adventures, supporting clients the entire way through their safari journey, She and her partner Alfan also managee the Luna Foundation, supporting children and families from some of the poorest backgrounds across Tanzania.
Not only will she likely be your first point of contact on enquiry, she’ll also be here in Tanzania for you from the moment you land right up until your last magical moment in the beautiful country that she now calls home.
Small is beautiful and our personal service is something that makes us truly unique – our signature style from the day Luna Safari was born.
Khalfani is the ever patient and extremely hardworking husband of Michaela. He is a local Tanzanian who knows his country like the back of his hand. A mountain chef by trade, Khalfani has scaled Africa’s highest mountain Kilimanjaro countless times, as well as cooked for and looked after volunteer groups in Tanzania for many years.
Khalfani and Michaela started Luna Safari together and now put so much love into all they do for you. You’ll definitely meet Khalfani here during your stay – most likely from the moment you land at the airport.
Alongside his wife Michaela and their little safari boy Arlo, you’ll be well taken care of and treated like family throughout.
With so much passion for Tanzania and all its beauty, Suleman’s enthusiasm for the wildlife and environment here is second to none. He loves his country and that shines through in everything has he does for our clients from the moment they climb aboard the jeep until the moment they step off.
Providing the ultimate care and attention to detail throughout, Suleman is more than just an excellent guide, he's everything in between.
Olariv Kisiri Edward
Now this guy makes climbing Kili look like a walk in the park and he’ll make it as easy as possible on you too. Deeply knowledgeable, highly experienced and caring from beginning to end, you’ll never feel more supported than when scaling this beast of a mountain with Olariv.
Having scaled Kilimanjaro more times than we’ve had hot dinners, if anyone is going to get you to the summit, its Abdul. He’ll keep you going all the way to the top and pick you up every time you need that little bit of motivation with plenty of laughs guaranteed along the way.
A modern day Maasai and a master of those Serengeti Plains – this man will get you closer to the Big Five than you ever imagined. The heart of an African lion and the experience behind him to cover each park blindfolded – prepare for an awesome ride with in the bush with our man Eddie.
With a career in the bush that spans over 15 years, Baba Lisa is one of Tanzania’s most well-known and sought after drivers. A Maasai born and bred, his knowledge of the land and local culture is spectacular. His love for the bush and the incredible wildlife that inhabits this beautiful country is infectious.
Quite possibly the happiest and most positive man you’ll ever meet, Baba Lisa is our most requested driver and is always trusted to deliver an experience no short of unforgettable every single time.
