From the moment we landed everything was perfect. Every hotel, meal, park was perfect. We had two of the best guides, Eric and Anderson. I highly recommend them. They were fun and taught us a lot about the culture and educated us on the animals we saw. Plus they made sure we saw all of the Big 5. We spent a total 7 nights on safari and ended with 3 nights in Zanzibar. It was just the perfect trip.

We booked a 7-day safari experience for a group of 10. Our drivers and tour guides... read more for this wonderful adventure were Eric and Anderson. I can’t imagine a better team! They were knowledgeable and experienced, able to expertly navigate the rugged terrain and locate the most elusive animals. We had numerous opportunities to view the majestic “Big 5” in their natural habitats with several coming within just feet of our 4x4. Importantly, both Eric and Anderson were adamant in the preservation of the animals and their habitat keeping us safe at all times while ensuring we did not disturb the wildlife.

We are very privileged to have travelled to Nairobi Kenya to the award-winning Giraffe Manor, this is where we got... read more close to the Rothschild Giraffe. Our adventure started with afternoon tea, the giraffes came to introduce themselves, walking up the garden where we had the chance to feed them and take photographs.
The next morning, our wake-up call was the giraffes tapping on the windows, we opened them, and they poked their heads through our bedroom window, shortly followed by a stunning and beautiful breakfast where we dined with the giraffes. This was truly a magical experience.
We then flew by bush plane to Kilimanjaro airport, this was more like a private plane as there was only 3 passengers, and a totally unique experience. Our adventure in Tanzania started by meeting the owners of the company –Alfani and Michaela, they took us to our first hotel Arusha Villa Karamu. The staff met us with huge smiles and could not do enough for us to make our stay special. What was special – we literally had the villa to ourselves, felt like film stars with our own private chefs. This is a pleasant hotel with good amenities, food and a good range of local beers.
We were then picked up by our guide for the week Erick, this young man was truly amazing and “fantabulouse” from start to finish. Polite, well mannered, knowledgeable of the local area and nothing was ever too much trouble, truly an excellent ambassador for Luna Travel!
Tarangire National Park is truly idyllic, the park is famous for its elephants, unfortunately, we did not see any as you cannot predict wild animals’ movements. The park is beautiful and full of species I have only seen in zoos in the UK. Erick did everything he could for us and eventually with his knowledge and tenacity we came across lions and a leopard, which is the most difficult to see due to their shy nature. This was 2 of the big 5. We were elated, the game drive was on! After a long busy day, we stayed in the Dreams Lodge, this is truly an idyllic surrounding, and something so special.
Serengeti National Park is truly breath-taking, filled with animals from zebras, wilder beasts, impalas, ostriches. Again, the knowledge from our amazing guide was able to show us buffalos, hyenas and even managed to find lions in the middle of a chasing wilder beasts and dung beetles rolling elephant’s dung! The full day was spent driving game in the Serengeti, totally amazing and exhausting at the same time. We went on to stay at the Ang’ata Luxury Camp – basically tents in the middle of the Serengeti I might add with a flushing toilet! This was a different experience hearing hyenas and the roars of lions in the middle of the night. Staff were very attentive with safety and had escorts everywhere during the evening. We woke up early in the morning to go on a balloon ride over the Serengeti – this is not to be missed. The captain CJ was hilarious all the way through and made a special moment even more special. After the breathtaking balloon ride, we were back in the safari truck looking for the elusive elephant, and with the amazing skills and knowledge of our guide we hit the big 4.
Onto Ngorongoro crater, this place is jam packed full of all critters including the Black Rhino. Again, our talented guide Erick who has eyes like a hawk – we struck gold – the BIG 5 was seen. Not only did we see one Rhino we saw three!!!
In total the Big 5 = 3 Rhino, 2 Leopards, 50 lions, 90 Elephants, and approx 150 African Buffalo.
Luna travel had our trip planned with the finest of details, well organised, personable as Michaela was in contact with us throughout to ensure our stay was excellent from start to finish. Erick could not do enough for us and he made our trip even more special as we have made a friend for life.

Luxurious Treehouses within the National Park Canopy was a highlight in Tarangire as well as the GORGEOUS Serengeti Camp and the resort selected in Zanzibar for us.

We ate so much I think we have both come home a stone heavier but the food was so delicious.

Other safari goers always looking on at us with our yummy hot lunch hamper each day. We certainly felt special, which is exactly what we wanted for our anniversary trip.

From giving advice before we traveled, to creating an itinerary that would gave us a taste of local Tanzania life, to the perfect, relaxing finish to our holiday in Zanzibar. We will be talking about this trip for a long time! Our safari guide was Eric, who was the perfect guide, making it his mission that we saw everything we could and getting the best spots to take pictures. He was also the perfect guide to have with children, our girls loved him! Travelling around with young children can come with its challenges, but Luna Safari did everything to make things easy for us, like checking us in at the airport so the children didn’t have to queue and carrying a sleeping 3 year old to allow me to take in the sights is the personal attention to detail you’ll not get with any other company. It was also my husbands birthday while we were there and not only did they arrange two birthday cakes, but our safari jeep was decorated with a birthday banner and balloons. Luna Safari made his birthday this year!

They created the most wonderful and memorable holiday of our lives. Everything... read more was organised perfectly starting with a champagne greeting at the airport which we enjoyed on our drive to our first hotel stay in Arusha. Our guide Eric then picked us up at 8.30 the following morning and we spent the next 6 days together travelling through the best safari parks in Tanzania, with overnight stays at the most amazing hotels and even 2 nights at a proper lodge under canvas with zebra, gazelle, wildebeest, Impala and lions, just outside our tent! I had my camera and binoculars permanently stuck to my face. Eric made it his mission to make sure I saw leopards in their natural environment, and we saw them twice which brought tears to my eyes. This had been one of my life time ambitions. We also saw hundreds of other birds and animals, many of them right next to our truck.. Luna also arranged a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti and this was the best experience of my life so far. I was really upset when our safari was over but again Luna pulled all the stops out and arranged for us to stay at a fabulous hotel in the north of Zanzibar with the best bungalow on the site right on the beach where we could watch the sun rise from our fabulous 4 poster bed.
